R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Theresa Nevins is being honored by the Lake Houston
  Science Collaborative for Excellence in Science Teaching; and
         WHEREAS, A teacher in the Humble Independent School District,
  Ms. Nevins is dedicated to providing inspired instruction to her
  students and has furthered her skills through participation in the
  Lake Houston Science Collaborative; and
         WHEREAS, The Lake Houston organization is one of the Texas
  Regional Collaboratives for Excellence in Science and Mathematics
  Teaching, which provides professional development to K-12
  educators throughout the state; drawing together institutions of
  higher education, the Texas Education Agency, education service
  centers, school districts, and business organizations, these
  partnerships have established an excellent track record in
  designing and implementing exemplary educational development
  programs; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Nevins prepared for her teaching career by
  earning a bachelor's degree in education from the University of
  South Florida; a member of the teaching profession for nine years,
  she works with fourth grade students at Hidden Hollow Elementary
  School in Kingwood, which is under the leadership of principal
  Janice Wiederhold; Ms. Nevins' respected stature as an educator was
  recognized in 2005, when she was included in Who's Who Among
  American Teachers; and
         WHEREAS, During her involvement with the Lake Houston Science
  Collaborative, Ms. Nevins has completed 121 hours of service and
  training and become proficient in a range of instructional models,
  materials, and best practices; by taking part in this intensive
  program, she has enhanced her abilities as an educator, which will
  allow her to become an even more effective mentor to her students;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Theresa Nevins on being named an
  honoree of the Lake Houston Science Collaborative for Excellence in
  Science Teaching and extend to her best wishes for continued
  success with her important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Nevins as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
