  H.R. No. 1762

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Our friend and colleague, the Honorable Robert
Puente of San Antonio, celebrates his 49th birthday on this day,
  April 27, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Representative Puente must have known early on what
fate had in store for him when he earned a degree in political
science from St. Mary's University and a law degree from The
University of Texas at Austin; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his tenure in the Texas House of
Representatives in 1991 at the tender age of 32, Representative
Puente is currently serving his ninth term in the house and can say
in all honesty that he's given this place the best years of his
life; a man who knows how to have a good time, he serves as chair of
the House Natural Resources Committee and as a member of the Local
Government Ways and Means Committee and the Steering Committee of
  the House Research Organization; and
WHEREAS, A member of the Texas Water Advisory Council whose
opinions hold water, he is well-known for his expertise in related
issues and was instrumental in the passage of the Edwards Aquifer
Authority legislation; indeed, as those who have served late nights
on the House Natural Resources Committee with him can attest, his
passion for preserving Texas' water resources is perhaps equaled
only by his passion for Red Bull; and
WHEREAS, When he isn't working or pursuing his favorite
pastime, working, Robert Puente enjoys spending time with his
beloved wife, Carmen, and his three children, Alec, Liana, and
  Luke; and
WHEREAS, A 49th birthday is the last one a person may
reasonably enjoy without enduring a lot of cringe-worthy jokes, not
to mention the onslaught of unsolicited mailings from AARP, and
Representative Puente will certainly be forgiven if he decides to
turn 49 again next year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Robert Puente on the
first of his 49th birthdays and extend to him sincere best wishes
for at least 49 more; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Representative Puente as an expression of high regard
by his colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives.
