R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, A full and generous life came to a close on April 12,
2007, with the passing of noted Del Rio civic leader Jack L.
Richardson; and
       WHEREAS, Born in 1929 in Wichita, Kansas, Mr. Richardson
joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and served his country as an
anti-aircraft gun crewman, classification specialist, and
cryptograph technician; and
       WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman led a life of
exceptional service to his country, state, and community; following
his departure from the army, he worked with Boeing Aircraft before
joining the U.S. Border Patrol in Del Rio in 1953; his 31-year
tenure with the agency would take him from Texas to Michigan to
California and back to the Lone Star State in 1965; he eventually
settled in Del Rio and was promoted to the position of chief patrol
agent; and
       WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the Border Patrol, Mr.
Richardson continued to give of his time and talents to the
betterment of his community; as the director of Del Rio
International Airport, he was highly instrumental in securing
financial support for its expansion and for the improvement of its
services; in addition, his work as a grant writer for the City of
Del Rio enabled the acquisition of funding for numerous beneficial
projects, including a new fire station and a baseball and soccer
complex; and
       WHEREAS, Known for his wit, tenacity, and professionalism,
Jack Richardson built a life that was remarkably rich in
accomplishments and meaningful service to others; although he will
be deeply missed, he will always be remembered with the greatest
respect and admiration; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jack L. Richardson and
extend sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of 58
years, Helen Louise Richardson; to his daughters, Mary Rene
Richardson and Leigh Ann Lindsey and her husband, Dr. Terry M.
Lindsey; to his grandchildren, Jackson, T. Houston, Austin,
Laramie, and Clovis Lindsey, Sarah Angol, and Raegen Mundy; to his
sister, Casey Marlnee; to his five great-grandchildren; and to his
other relatives and friends; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jack
Richardson.
