R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dahlia Baldinger of Clark High School in San Antonio
  has been named a National Merit Scholar semifinalist; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship
  Program honors less than one percent of all high school seniors each
  year, based on their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic
  Assessment Test; the designation represents an opportunity for
  young men and women to compete for scholarship awards and win entry
  into some of the nation's best schools; and
         WHEREAS, One of only two students at Clark High School to be
  chosen as a National Merit Scholar semifinalist this year, Ms.
  Baldinger is at the forefront of academic excellence in the nation,
  and her outstanding accomplishment makes her a source of great
  pride to her school and community; and
         WHEREAS, Dahlia Baldinger has demonstrated exceptional
  intelligence, initiative, and maturity in pursuing her academic
  goals, and it is a pleasure to commend her on her achievement; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dahlia Baldinger on her selection
  as a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Baldinger as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
