R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Nathan Swaney of O'Connor High School in San Antonio |
|
|
has been named a National Merit Scholar semifinalist; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship |
|
|
Program honors less than one percent of all high school seniors each |
|
|
year, based on their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic |
|
|
Assessment Test; the designation represents an opportunity for |
|
|
young men and women to compete for scholarship awards and win entry |
|
|
into some of the nation's best schools; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The only student at O'Connor High School to be |
|
|
chosen as a National Merit Scholar semifinalist this year, Mr. |
|
|
Swaney is at the forefront of academic excellence in the nation, and |
|
|
his outstanding accomplishment makes him a source of great pride to |
|
|
his school and community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Nathan Swaney has demonstrated exceptional |
|
|
intelligence, initiative, and maturity in pursuing his academic |
|
|
goals, and it is a pleasure to commend him on his achievement; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Nathan Swaney on his selection as a |
|
|
semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program and extend |
|
|
to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Swaney as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
