R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The students of the Van High School drama
  department, under the direction of drama teacher Larry Wisdom, have
  earned the right to perform their production of Man of La Mancha at
  the UIL State Meet One-Act Play Contest; and
         WHEREAS, This significant accomplishment marks the school's
  fourth appearance at the state-level contest in the past six years
  and represents Mr. Wisdom's 21st time as a director at a state meet;
  the Van ensemble placed third in 2004 with the play Assassins, and
  their 2002 and 2005 productions of Godspell and The Caucasian Chalk
  Circle each earned first-place honors; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to their achievements in UIL, the
  members of the Van drama department have also distinguished
  themselves in the National Forensics League; in the past three
  years, 10 Van students have qualified for the organization's
  national tournament, five of whom will be vying in the 2007
  competition; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Wisdom and his troupe of young Texans have
  demonstrated the importance of hard work and dedication in
  achieving success; they are a tremendous source of pride to their
  families, school, and community, and it is a pleasure to recognize
  them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Larry Wisdom and the members of the
  Van High School drama department on their many impressive
  accomplishments and extend to them best wishes for the future; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Van High School as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
