R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Houston Young Republicans are
  visiting the Texas State Capitol on April 27, 2007, and this
  occasion provides a fitting opportunity to pay tribute to this
  notable organization; and
         WHEREAS, With a membership that ranges in age from 21 to 40,
  the Houston Young Republicans is a group of motivated individuals
  who work to advance the growth of the Republican Party by assisting
  in the election of party candidates to public office; and
         WHEREAS, Group members have created a forum that encourages
  active participation in the political process and allows
  Houston-area Republicans to share and debate ideas with like-minded
  activists; and
         WHEREAS, Bringing together men and women who have an avid
  interest in public affairs, the Houston Young Republicans assists
  its members in gaining grassroots political experience and provides
  them an opportunity to improve their leadership skills and to take
  part in community service projects; and
         WHEREAS, Speakers and panel discussions are a regular part of
  group meetings, and these events help members connect with public
  officials and increase their knowledge of issues of vital
  importance to the State of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, The Houston Young Republicans is an energetic force
  in the public affairs of southeastern Texas, and its members' 
  dedicated efforts have encouraged citizen engagement in public
  dialogue and furthered the worthy American tradition of political
  activism; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor members of the Houston Young Republicans
  for their participation in the political process of the Lone Star
  State and extend to them sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and
  informative visit to Austin; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
