| WHEREAS, The passing of Harry Stanton Hassel on March 19, | ||
| 2007, at the age of 68, deeply saddened the family and friends of | ||
| this fine man; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A Nebraska native, Mr. Hassel was born on December | ||
| 11, 1938; he graduated from the University of Utah in 1964 with a | ||
| bachelor of science degree; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Harry Hassel enjoyed a distinguished 36-year career | ||
| with the National Weather Service; at the time of his retirement, he | ||
| was the only employee of that agency to have served as director of | ||
| three of the six NWS regions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Held in the highest esteem within his profession, | ||
| Harry Hassel could take pride in a long record of constructive | ||
| endeavors, and he is remembered with great fondness by all who knew | ||
| and treasured him; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Harry Stanton Hassel | ||
| and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his | ||
| wife, Jutta Hassel; to his sons, Jeff Hassel and his wife, Kathleen, | ||
| and Toby Hassel and his wife, Val; to his daughter, Andrea Eastham, | ||
| and her husband, Lyle; to his grandchildren, Kayleigh Hassel, | ||
| Brayden Hassel, Madelynn Eastham, Isabella Eastham, Aspen Eastham, | ||
| and Calder Hassel; to his brother, Daniel Hassel; and to his other | ||
| relatives and many friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harry | ||
| Stanton Hassel. | ||
