R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Reverend Alberto Arcilla Maullon, Jr., has
  served parishioners of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston for 25
  years, and in celebration, he is offering a Mass of Thanksgiving on
  May 19, 2007, at St. Paul Church in Nassau Bay, and again on June 15,
  2007, at the Santuario de San Antonio in Makati City, Philippines;
  and
         WHEREAS, Born in the Philippines in 1958, Alberto Maullon
  entered the seminary at age 12, inspired by the examples of two
  uncles and a brother, and went on to graduate as valedictorian of
  Our Lady of Penafrancia Seminary in 1974; after earning a
  bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Santo Tomas
  in Manila, he received a scholarship from the Archdiocese of
  Galveston-Houston to continue his studies at St. Mary's Seminary at
  the University of St. Thomas in Houston, where he subsequently
  earned a master's of divinity in 1981; following a yearlong
  diaconate at St. Frances Cabrini Church, he became the first
  Filipino priest ordained in the diocese on May 8, 1982; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Maullon served as parochial vicar of Prince
  of Peace Church, St. Francis de Sales Church, and Notre Dame Church
  before being appointed pastor and parish administrator of St.
  Bartholomew Church in Katy in 1991; he served at St. Bartholomew for
  more than 10 years, during which time he oversaw the construction of
  a new sanctuary; in 2002, he was assigned as pastor of St. Paul
  Church in Nassau Bay, where he is currently involved in building a
  new worship center; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman also serves as a member of
  the Priests Personnel Committee and as priest representative on the
  Permanent Diaconate Personnel Committee; and
         WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Reverend Maullon has
  offered guidance and inspiration to countless parishioners in
  Southeast Texas, and it is indeed fitting to reflect on his myriad
  contributions as he commemorates this joyous occasion; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor the Reverend Alberto Arcilla Maullon, Jr.,
  on 25 years of service to the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Reverend Maullon as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
