R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, After 34 years of service, Garza County Judge Giles
  W. Dalby of Post is retiring from public office, concluding an
  impressive tenure marked by myriad civic improvements; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Dalby is the longest tenured constitutional
  county judge in Texas, a testament to his dedication and commitment
  to the men and women he has dutifully served for more than three
  decades; and
         WHEREAS, During his years in office, Judge Dalby maintained a
  focus on economic development; he shared his time with a number of
  professional organizations, serving as president of the County
  Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas, the West Texas
  County Judges and Commissioners Association, and the Texas
  Association of Counties, which he further served as a member of the
  Workers Compensation Self-Insurance Fund board and as chair of the
  County Government Risk Management Pool board; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has also been chair of the Texas
  County and District Retirement System and the Judicial Education
  Committee, and served as vice chair of the board of trustees for
  West Texas Centers for MHMR; his many contributions to his fellow
  citizens have earned him a number of accolades; twice named Man of
  the Year by the West Texas County Judges and Commissioners
  Association, he was awarded the inaugural Giles W. Dalby Award for
  Judicial Leadership, presented to him by TAC and the Texas Judicial
  Academy for retiring county judges; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Dalby's tenure has seen a great deal of
  positive change for the people of Garza County, and his legacy of
  success and achievement will continue to benefit his fellow
  citizens for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Judge Giles W. Dalby for his many years
  of service to the citizens of Garza County and extend to him best
  wishes for joy and happiness in his well-deserved retirement; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Judge Dalby as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
