R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, After more than three decades of outstanding service
  to the teaching profession, Veronica D. Taylor is retiring from the
  Aldine Independent School District in May 2007; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Taylor
  earned her undergraduate degree from Bethune-Cookman College and
  her teaching certification from Texas Southern University before
  beginning her career as an elementary school educator with Aldine
  ISD in Houston; and
         WHEREAS, She has taught at several schools in the district
  over the course of her distinguished 32-year tenure; in addition to
  fulfilling her duties as a classroom teacher, Mrs. Taylor has been
  an effective team leader for second- through fourth-grade students
  during her career, serving as a mentor for new teachers and as a
  voice for the students; and
         WHEREAS, Especially adept at working with gifted and at-risk
  youth, she is known for her ability to instill confidence and to
  equip her students with the skills they need for success; and
         WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Mrs. Taylor has enjoyed the
  support of a loving family, including her husband, Larry Taylor,
  Sr., her parents, Raymond and Zelma Wade, and her children, Larry
  Taylor, Jr., and Sheronica Taylor; and
         WHEREAS, Veronica Taylor has dedicated decades to the youth
  of the Lone Star State, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her
  accomplished career, knowing she has made a positive difference in
  the lives of countless children; she leaves Smith Academy with a
  legacy of enthusiasm and achievement as well as numerous friends
  and colleagues who wish her well in this new chapter of her life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Veronica D. Taylor on her
  retirement from the Aldine Independent School District and extend
  to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Taylor as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
