R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, George Reynolds Brown of Midland is celebrating his
  90th birthday on May 7, 2007, and this notable milestone is indeed
  deserving of special recognition; and
         WHEREAS, George Brown was born to John and Flora Brown on the
  Triangle Ranch in northwest Mitchell County on May 7, 1917; he
  graduated from Colorado City High School in 1935 and earned a degree
  in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology
  in 1940; he proudly served his country during World War II as a
  lieutenant in the U.S. Navy stationed in Alaska; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Brown spent his entire career, from roustabout
  to manager, in the employ of Texaco Oil Company; over the years he
  had the opportunity to work in many different locations, from
  Sundown, Wichita Falls, Midland, and Fort Worth to New York City,
  Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Calgary, Alberta; at the time he retired, he
  was serving as general manager of Texaco in Lagos, Nigeria; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband and loving father, George Brown
  married the former Floy McWilliams in 1948 and the couple became the
  parents of a son, George Reynolds Brown, Jr.; and
         WHEREAS, Held in high regard by his neighbors and fellow
  citizens, Mr. Brown is a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church
  and has served as an elder in various congregations; his diverse
  interests include stamps and old coins as well as research into the
  manufacture of old telephones, radios, and light bulbs; and
         WHEREAS, This beloved gentleman continues to enrich the lives
  of his family and friends, and it is a privilege to join in honoring
  him on this special day; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate George Reynolds Brown on the
  celebration of his 90th birthday and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Brown as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
