H.R. No. 1834
 
R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Harlon and Linda Smith of Hurst
celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 9, 2007; and
       WHEREAS, Harlon E. Smith and the former Linda Kay Pierce were
united in matrimony in Ardmore, Oklahoma, in 1957; they have
nurtured a close and fulfilling marriage and have been blessed with
a loving family that includes Pamela D'Ann Smith, David A.
Consolver, and Herb and Terry Slattery; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. Smith is retired from a career at Lockheed, and
Mrs. Smith is an artist; they have lived in Hurst for 42 years; and
       WHEREAS, Having witnessed innumerable changes in the world
over the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife have
taken comfort in the reassuring strength of their love, and the
steadfast support they provide one another has allowed them to meet
life's challenges and opportunities with grace and determination;
now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Harlon and Linda Smith on their
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
for continued happiness; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Smith as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
