R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Led by conductor Gregory Dick, the Friendswood High |
|
|
School Band has been selected as a recipient of the 2006 Sudler Flag |
|
|
of Honor award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This international accolade is the premier |
|
|
recognition of excellence in concert performance that a high school |
|
|
band can receive and is bestowed on programs that have demonstrated |
|
|
remarkable standards of excellence over a period of several years; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Only 51 bands from the United States, Canada, and |
|
|
Japan have received the award since its establishment 26 years ago, |
|
|
and the Friendswood High School Band is one of only two bands |
|
|
awarded the honor in 2006; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Inspired by Mr. Dick to perform at the highest and |
|
|
most professional level, the members of the Friendswood High School |
|
|
Band have demonstrated the importance of hard work and talent in |
|
|
building an outstanding program, and they may take great pride in |
|
|
this significant achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Gregory Dick and the members of the |
|
|
Friendswood High School Band on their receipt of a 2006 Sudler Flag |
|
|
of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation and extend to them |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Dick and the band as an expression of high regard |
|
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
