| WHEREAS, Led by conductor Gregory Dick, the Friendswood High | ||
| School Band has been selected as a recipient of the 2006 Sudler Flag | ||
| of Honor award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This international accolade is the premier | ||
| recognition of excellence in concert performance that a high school | ||
| band can receive and is bestowed on programs that have demonstrated | ||
| remarkable standards of excellence over a period of several years; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Only 51 bands from the United States, Canada, and | ||
| Japan have received the award since its establishment 26 years ago, | ||
| and the Friendswood High School Band is one of only two bands | ||
| awarded the honor in 2006; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Inspired by Mr. Dick to perform at the highest and | ||
| most professional level, the members of the Friendswood High School | ||
| Band have demonstrated the importance of hard work and talent in | ||
| building an outstanding program, and they may take great pride in | ||
| this significant achievement; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Gregory Dick and the members of the | ||
| Friendswood High School Band on their receipt of a 2006 Sudler Flag | ||
| of Honor from the John Philip Sousa Foundation and extend to them | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Dick and the band as an expression of high regard | ||
| by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
