| WHEREAS, The Friendswood High School Academic Decathlon team | ||
| won its 15th consecutive state championship in 2007, and it is truly | ||
| a pleasure to commend these fine young men and women on this | ||
| outstanding achievement; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The team earned more than 100 medals at this year's | ||
| regional competition, placing first overall, first in team Super | ||
| Quiz, and first in the Super Quiz relay; at the state level, | ||
| Friendswood students won 41 individual medals to earn first place | ||
| overall, also placing second in team Super Quiz and third in Super | ||
| Quiz relay; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of this exceptional group include seniors | ||
| John Bohannon, Ryan Buckley, Eric Firouzbakht, Ayman Haq, Julie | ||
| Rogers, Joseph Welsh, and Zach Velky and juniors Alesha Rimmelin | ||
| and Andrea Lloyd; the students were ably assisted in their efforts | ||
| by coaches Daron Scott and Michael Wells, whose dedication and | ||
| support were instrumental in the team's success; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The 2006-2007 Academic Decathlon team is a source of | ||
| great pride to the faculty, staff, and students of Friendswood High | ||
| School, and its first-place win at this year's state competition is | ||
| indeed deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Friendswood High | ||
| School Academic Decathlon team and their coaches on winning the | ||
| 2007 State Academic Decathlon Championship and that they be | ||
| extended sincere best wishes for continued success and for | ||
| happiness in all their future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
