R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The 92nd birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|
|
cause for celebration, and Orpah M. Thomas of Houston marked this |
|
|
significant occasion in her life on May 2, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born to Mose and Ada Parks in Huntsville in 1915, |
|
|
Orpah Thomas grew up with the companionship of nine sisters and a |
|
|
brother; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Later, with her husband, Claudy Thomas, she raised |
|
|
four children, Claudy, Louis, Landy, and Orpah, and today she |
|
|
enjoys the love and affection of her children as well as 16 |
|
|
grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Thomas has been a resident of the historic |
|
|
Fifth Ward of Houston since moving there in 1935; in addition to |
|
|
managing the responsibilities of home and family life, she delights |
|
|
in fishing expeditions and in maintaining her lovely flower garden; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Orpah Thomas has greatly enhanced the lives of her |
|
|
family and friends with her wise and generous spirit, and her |
|
|
birthday provides a welcome opportunity to honor her for her many |
|
|
kindnesses to others; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Orpah Thomas on her 92nd birthday |
|
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness and |
|
|
good fortune; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Thomas as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
