R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For 50 years, families have come together to |
|
|
celebrate their faith at Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1957 by 58 charter members, the |
|
|
church was originally named in honor of its first pastor, M. P. |
|
|
Bishop, and congregants gathered to worship at City Hall; when its |
|
|
first building was constructed a year later, the institution was |
|
|
rededicated as Fielder Road Baptist Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This notable house of worship has played a vital |
|
|
role in the community, providing its members with a welcome |
|
|
opportunity for spiritual growth, fellowship, and outreach; |
|
|
ministries and facilities are frequently expanded to better meet |
|
|
the needs of members and area residents; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The congregation has been blessed with many |
|
|
compassionate and able leaders through the years, and today that |
|
|
legacy continues with the inspired teachings of Dr. Gary A. Smith; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For half a century, Fielder Road Baptist Church has |
|
|
served as a source of strength and guidance to those who have |
|
|
worshiped there, and the church stands as a tribute to the faith and |
|
|
dedication of its members, both past and present, who have devoted |
|
|
their time, prayers, and resources to ensure its continued |
|
|
existence; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Fielder Road Baptist Church on the |
|
|
occasion of its 50th anniversary and extend best wishes for the |
|
|
future to Dr. Gary A. Smith and his congregation; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
