| WHEREAS, Justin C. Stewart is graduating from the Thurgood | ||
| Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University on May 11, 2007; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Attaining a law degree is truly a notable milestone, | ||
| for it represents the culmination of years of hard work and | ||
| perseverance; and | ||
| WHEREAS, While a law student, Mr. Stewart has been a member of | ||
| the American Bar Association Business Law Section, the Houston Law | ||
| Association, and the Sports Entertainment Law Society; in addition, | ||
| this National Bar Institute African American Law Student Fellow was | ||
| named to the Dean's List and participated in the Helen Dawn Williams | ||
| Mock Trial Competition; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Before attending Texas Southern University, Mr. | ||
| Stewart earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from | ||
| Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was a linebacker | ||
| for the Maroon Tigers football team and a fixture on the Dean's | ||
| List; throughout his undergraduate career, he also was a member of | ||
| Phi Beta Sigma and an Arthur Ashe Jr. Scholar and Council Legal | ||
| Education Opportunity Fellow; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This industrious and civic-minded individual has | ||
| given back to his community as director of Traynor House and as a | ||
| volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Columbus, Ohio, as well | ||
| as with a Columbus homeless shelter; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Supported and encouraged throughout his education | ||
| by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Stewart, and by his brother, Bruce, | ||
| Justin Stewart has earned widespread admiration for his | ||
| determination, humor, and abilities, and he is most deserving of | ||
| special recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Justin C. Stewart on his graduation | ||
| from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern | ||
| University and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Stewart as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
