R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Lyondell Chemical Company of Houston and its |
|
employees have contributed time, expertise, and funding to the |
|
study of science, math, and technology in the Clear Creek |
|
Independent School District over the 2006-2007 school year; and |
|
WHEREAS, The company has established two $1,000 scholarships |
|
for Clear Lake High School students to attend CCISD's Clear |
|
Horizons school, an early college high school, and has endowed two |
|
Lyondell Legacy scholarships at $1,000 each for Clear Lake students |
|
planning to study engineering in college; and |
|
WHEREAS, A field trip aboard the BaySmart cruise was |
|
sponsored for students of Ed White Elementary School, enabling the |
|
students to explore birds, wildlife, and marshlands of the Gulf |
|
Coast, and Lyondell employees encouraged CCISD students to pursue |
|
studies and careers in science, math, and technology by |
|
volunteering for such campus-wide and district-wide programs as |
|
Roundtable with the Wizards, Evening with the Engineers, Super |
|
Sci-Tech Saturday, and Career Discovery Day; and |
|
WHEREAS, More than two dozen Lyondell employees and their |
|
families helped to build a habitat for the students of G. W. |
|
Robinson Elementary School, and the company has provided funds and |
|
volunteers for the robotics team at CCISD's science magnet school, |
|
Seabrook Intermediate; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lyondell and its public-spirited employees have |
|
greatly benefited the students of Clear Creek ISD, and it is fitting |
|
to pay tribute to them for their noteworthy support; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend the Lyondell Chemical Company and its |
|
employees for contributing so generously to the Clear Creek |
|
Independent School District and extend to the company and its staff |
|
best wishes for their continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Lyondell Chemical Company as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
