R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Countless lives were touched by the caring nature of
  philanthropist Martha Jane Huddle of Baytown, who died on March 4,
  2007, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Martha Jane Huddle was born in Caldwell on January
  14, 1919; she graduated from Sam Houston State University with a
  degree in business and was initially employed at Citizen's National
  Bank; deciding to change careers, she earned her teaching
  certification and a master's degree in education from the
  University of Houston, and she taught second grade at Alamo
  Elementary School for 22 years before retiring in 1986; and
         WHEREAS, Along with her husband, Douglas Huddle, Jr., Mrs.
  Huddle was a steadfast supporter of Lee College, and the couple
  served on the Friends of Lee College board and the library board;  
  to recognize Mrs. Huddle's many contributions to the institution,
  Lee College named a campus courtyard in her honor;  her volunteer
  efforts also extended to other local organizations, including the
  American Cancer Society and the Kiwanis Club of Baytown, which has
  created a scholarship fund in her memory that will be offered to
  students at Lee College; and
         WHEREAS, Held in the highest regard by all who knew her,
  Martha Jane Huddle brought a generosity of spirit and an unfailing
  integrity to all of her endeavors, and she built a life that was
  remarkably rich, filled with family, friends, and numerous
  accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Martha Jane Huddle and
  extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband
  of 64 years, Douglas O. Huddle, Jr.; to her children, Cindy
  McGlothlin and her husband, Pat, and Doug Huddle and his wife,
  Diane; to her grandchildren, Shawn and Tami McGlothlin, Benjamin
  Jackson, Brian and Shannon Hall, and Dr. Timothy J. Jackson; to her
  great-grandchildren, Kayli, Brianna, and Aidan McGlothlin, Saige
  Wimberly, Kayla Huddle, and Brenden Hall; to her sister, Georgia
  Fay Robbins; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Martha Jane
  Huddle.
