R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Sergeant Robert |
|
Matthew McDowell suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of |
|
this beloved Texan on April 1, 2007, at the age of 30; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Brigade Special Troops |
|
Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, |
|
Sergeant McDowell was killed on the battlefield in Baghdad while |
|
serving his second tour in Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Deer Park High School, Sergeant |
|
McDowell enlisted two years after earning his diploma, and during |
|
his time in the military, he served in Bosnia and Germany before his |
|
deployment to Iraq; notwithstanding the hazardous nature of his |
|
work, he approached his mission with the utmost dedication and |
|
professionalism, and his courageous service and leadership earned |
|
him the Purple Heart; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. armed |
|
forces, Matt McDowell inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity, |
|
and courage; although his passing leaves a void in the lives of |
|
those who were fortunate to know him, they will forever carry |
|
memories of this heroic soldier close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Sergeant |
|
Robert Matthew McDowell and extend deepest sympathy to the members |
|
of his family: to his parents, Pat and Kathy Callahan and Kim |
|
McDowell; to his wife, Daniela McDowell; to his children, Madison |
|
and Nathan McDowell; to his brother, Michael McDowell and his wife, |
|
Stacey; to his nephews, William and Micah McDowell; and to his other |
|
relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of United |
|
States Army Sergeant Robert Matthew McDowell. |
