R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
  love and shared experiences, and Bob and Bernita Measles of Mineola
  observed this joyous milestone in their marriage on December 15,
  2006; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Measles were joined in matrimony in
  1956 at a ceremony held at the Lutheran Church in Plainview; through
  the years, they have been blessed with two children and their
  spouses, Bryan and Cindy and Brenda and Mark, as well as three
  cherished grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, The couple, who moved to Mineola in 1984, have lived
  throughout Arkansas and Texas and worked as cotton farmers and in
  the aviation industry; Mr. Measles was employed as a flight
  instructor, and both husband and wife sold privately owned
  airplanes before joining Delta Air Lines, Inc., in 1966; they
  served the company for 30 years, with Mr. Measles retiring as
  captain of a Lockheed L-1011 in 1996; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Measles have
  been highly involved in their community; Mrs. Measles has been a
  dedicated volunteer with a number of local efforts and
  organizations, and Mr. Measles has participated in various
  political and civic activities, including the Rotary Club of
  Mineola; in addition, they are both active and valued congregants
  of the First Baptist Church of Mineola; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Measles have enjoyed five decades of
  abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
  exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
  commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Bob and Bernita Measles on their
  50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for
  continued happiness together; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Measles as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
