R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of North Richland Hills gathered in March
  2007 to celebrate the grand opening of Dr. Pillow Park; and
         WHEREAS, Many months in the planning, this 6.5-acre
  recreation area features a hike and bike trail, covered picnic
  area, playground with climbing rocks, swings, slides, and a Texas
  Mission façade with seating area; and
         WHEREAS, The park is named in honor of Dr. David Pillow, who
  opened the city's first health care facility, Pillow-Rush Medical
  and Surgical Clinic, in 1955; as Dr. Pillow's practice grew, the
  center expanded and was renamed Northeast Medical and Surgical
  Clinic, which later became North Hills Hospital; nearly 30 years
  after establishing his practice, Dr. Pillow became chairman of the
  North Hills Hospital board of trustees; and
         WHEREAS, The growth of North Richland Hills has led to an
  increased demand for outdoor recreational facilities to support the
  needs of an active community, and urban environments make it
  increasingly necessary to preserve green spaces as sanctuaries for
  wildlife and as places of quiet reflection; and
         WHEREAS, It is indeed a pleasure to formally welcome a
  significant community resource into the lives of North Richland
  Hills residents and to recognize the individuals who have made this
  fine park a reality; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the opening of Dr. Pillow Park and
  extend to all those who have worked to ensure the success of the
  project sincere congratulations on a job well done.
