R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Specialist |
|
Dustin R. Donica suffered an immeasurable loss with the death of |
|
this valiant soldier on December 28, 2006, at the age of 22; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute |
|
Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry |
|
Division, Specialist Donica was killed while bravely serving his |
|
country during combat operations in Baghdad; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dustin Donica was born July 11, 1984, and grew up in |
|
Spring; after graduating from Klein High School, he went on to |
|
attend The University of Texas, but a strong desire to serve this |
|
nation soon led him to join the U.S. Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known to his friends as "Double D," Specialist |
|
Donica loved soccer; from the time he was five, he spent nearly |
|
every Saturday at the park playing the sport and at the age of 11, |
|
his talent earned him a position on a team that traveled throughout |
|
the country; over the years he earned enough money from his referee |
|
jobs to pay for his first car, a 1969 MGB roadster that he restored |
|
with the help of his father; and |
|
WHEREAS, Specialist Donica was close to his family and shared |
|
a special bond with his sister, Courtney; he will always be |
|
remembered for his generosity of spirit and his unique sense of |
|
humor; and |
|
WHEREAS, Exemplifying the highest ideals of the U.S. Armed |
|
Forces, he inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity, and |
|
courage; the State of Texas and the nation now mourn the loss of |
|
Dustin Donica: a soldier for a brief period, a hero forever; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Specialist |
|
Dustin R. Donica and extend deepest sympathy to his parents, David |
|
and Judy Donica, to his sister, Courtney, and to all those who mourn |
|
his passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army |
|
Specialist Dustin R. Donica. |
