R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than 40 years, the U.S. Small Business |
|
|
Administration has recognized outstanding small business owners |
|
|
for their contributions to the nation's economy during National |
|
|
Small Business Week; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The SBA Houston District Office, which serves 32 |
|
|
counties and some 350,000 businesses, is honoring 10 outstanding |
|
|
individuals on May 11, 2007, at the Small Business Week Awards |
|
|
Luncheon; the event is being sponsored by the Houston chapter of |
|
|
SCORE, a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education |
|
|
and the formation, growth, and success of the nation's small |
|
|
businesses; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Rhonda Lewis has been named the Financial Services |
|
|
Champion of the Year; after receiving her bachelor of business |
|
|
administration degree from The University of Texas, she began her |
|
|
banking career as a credit analyst for Republic Bank Houston in |
|
|
1979; she later worked for 13 years with Omnibank, where she was |
|
|
elected executive vice president and director overseeing the |
|
|
lending activities of loan officers at three branches; in addition, |
|
|
she had responsibility for servicing a loan portfolio totaling $50 |
|
|
million; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Lewis joined Wells Fargo SBA Lending as credit |
|
|
manager in 1999; she is responsible for credit underwriting for |
|
|
7(a), 504, and Express products; she focuses her attention on loans |
|
|
processed throughout the state and also serves as team lead, |
|
|
overseeing the workflow and approving SBA loans for other |
|
|
underwriters; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in the Houston Association of Government |
|
|
Guaranteed Lenders, Ms. Lewis most recently served on its education |
|
|
committee; she was instrumental in developing the program for the |
|
|
Mid America Lender's Conference held at The Woodlands in August |
|
|
2005; furthermore, she served as the president of Financial Women |
|
|
International in 1995 and chaired the Texas District Conference in |
|
|
1999; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Small businesses are the lifeblood of cities and |
|
|
towns across the country, and National Small Business Week provides |
|
|
a welcome opportunity to honor those men and women who contribute to |
|
|
the economic vitality of their communities through their |
|
|
professional endeavors; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Rhonda Lewis on her selection as |
|
|
the 2007 Financial Services Champion of the Year by the Houston |
|
|
District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration and |
|
|
extend to her best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Lewis as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
