R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Roosevelt Alexander of Katy has made innumerable
  contributions to the vitality of his community through his years of
  service as an educator, administrator, and civic leader; and
         WHEREAS, A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Alexander is a
  graduate of Prairie View A&M University, where he earned bachelor's
  and master's degrees; he began his 35-year career in education as a
  teacher in 1958 in Katy; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout the ensuing three and a half decades,
  this notable Texan provided able service to the youth of Katy as a
  classroom instructor, coach, assistant principal, and principal;
  his outstanding tenure was recognized in 1997, when the district's
  newest elementary school was named in his honor; and
         WHEREAS, Equally impressive has been his involvement in civic
  and professional organizations, including several local, state,
  and national education associations; as president of the
  Brookshire/Pattison AARP Chapter, he inspired members to take
  active roles in both community and political issues, and his work
  with Zion Hill Baptist Church includes service as the financial
  secretary and chairman of the Trustee Board; in addition, he is a
  past alderman for the City of Brookshire, president of the Waller
  County Appraisal Review Board, and chairman of the Brookshire
  Economic Development Board and Royal I.S.D. Bond Committee; and
         WHEREAS, Known and admired for his optimistic spirit and his
  love of family and community, Mr. Alexander has truly made Katy a
  better place in which to live, work, and raise a family, and it is a
  pleasure to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Roosevelt Alexander for his myriad
  contributions to his community as an educator and civic leader and
  extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Alexander as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
