R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Bill Parrott was honored by the Lindale Chamber of |
|
Commerce on April 23, 2007, when he was deservedly named the |
|
community's Citizen of the Year; and |
|
WHEREAS, A valued resident of Lindale since 1963, Mr. Parrott |
|
was the first Gold Medallion builder in East Texas, developing many |
|
of the area's residential and commercial properties; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2003, he made a lasting contribution to the city |
|
by donating a rural heritage museum park valued at more than $2 |
|
million; set on 27 acres, the park hosts a collection of tractors, |
|
steam engines, and other historical artifacts that depict life in |
|
the late 1800s and early 1900s; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Parrott is active in the community and attends |
|
the First Baptist Church of Lindale, where he serves the |
|
congregation as a deacon; he has further shared his time flying |
|
mission trips throughout Texas, neighboring states, and Mexico; |
|
moreover, this caring gentleman most recently demonstrated his |
|
passion for helping others when he placed himself and his vehicle |
|
directly in harm's way to help a woman in danger of being crushed by |
|
a rolling logging truck; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bill Parrott has long distinguished himself as a |
|
good neighbor, and his leadership has truly benefited his fellow |
|
Texans; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Bill Parrott on his selection as |
|
Citizen of the Year by the Lindale Chamber of Commerce and commend |
|
him for his many significant contributions to the betterment of his |
|
community; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Parrott as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
