R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|
and shared experiences; Ignacio and Victoria Apodaca of Socorro |
|
celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on February 14, |
|
2007, and reaffirmed their commitment to one another by renewing |
|
their marriage vows 10 days later, on February 24; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ignacio G. Apodaca and the former Victoria R. |
|
Barajas were joined in matrimony on Valentine's Day in 1957 at a |
|
ceremony held at Socorro Mission La Purisima; through the years, |
|
they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes five |
|
children, Elsa Apodaca Trejo, Beatriz B. Apodaca, Gloria B. |
|
Apodaca, Frank B. Apodaca, and Carlos B. Apodaca, as well as seven |
|
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Apodaca is |
|
retired from the U.S. Air Force and Mrs. Apodaca is a retired |
|
educator; in addition to meeting their work and family |
|
responsibilities, they have been valued members of Socorro Mission |
|
La Purisima, where they have given generously of their time and |
|
talents; Mr. Apodaca founded the Socorro Catholic Youth |
|
Organization, and he is active in the music ministry and Holy |
|
Communion service for the sick and elderly of the parish; Mrs. |
|
Apodaca has volunteered for more than 60 years, having served as a |
|
catechism teacher and participating in other projects and |
|
ministries; she has also worked to better her community by devoting |
|
time to the Socorro Head Start Center; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Apodaca have enjoyed five decades of |
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ignacio and Victoria Apodaca on |
|
their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best |
|
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Apodaca as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
