R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, The Cedar Park Fire Department was named the top
emergency medical services first-responder organization in Texas
for 2006 by the Texas Department of State Health Services; and
       WHEREAS, This significant honor recognizes the Cedar Park
Fire Department's success in handling emergency calls, which can
comprise as much as 80 percent of a department's workload; and
       WHEREAS, Judged best in this category among the more than
2,400 fire departments in the state, Cedar Park has an excellent
track record in resuscitating victims who have suffered cardiac
arrest; in addition, the city's EMS responders do an outstanding
job with less critical situations, and they bring a positive,
proactive attitude to all of their emergency duties; and
       WHEREAS, Under the direction of fire chief Chris Connealy,
the Cedar Park Fire Department has earned a prominent place among
the Lone Star State's emergency-services organizations, and the
exemplary performance of its EMS personnel has greatly enhanced the
safety and well-being of the residents of the Cedar Park area; now,
therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Cedar Park Fire Department for
being named the top EMS first-responder organization in Texas for
2006 and extend best wishes to the department members for continued
success in their crucial work; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the department as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
