R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Allison Dickson of Temple graduated at the top of |
|
|
her class from Baylor Law School on April 28, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This momentous milestone follows five years after |
|
|
she graduated summa cum laude from Southwestern University and |
|
|
nearly a decade after she graduated in the top three percent of her |
|
|
class at Temple High School, achievements made all the more |
|
|
remarkable because Ms. Dickson lives with Werdnig-Hoffman muscular |
|
|
dystrophy; diagnosed as a toddler, she was not expected to live past |
|
|
the age of three, yet blessed with an unbeatable spirit and the |
|
|
support of her proud parents, Joe and Johnnie Dickson, she has |
|
|
prevailed for 27 years; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known for her passionate dedication and stellar work |
|
|
ethic, Ms. Dickson was selected for the Baylor Law Review, served as |
|
|
a Baylor Law School Ambassador, and participated in Delta Theta Phi |
|
|
Law Fraternity and the Student Bar Association, which named her |
|
|
Student Leader of the Year; moreover, this self-proclaimed sports |
|
|
fanatic could often be found showing her support for the Bears at a |
|
|
variety of athletic events; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Although Ms. Dickson has already had several job |
|
|
offers, her immediate plans include enjoying a well-deserved break; |
|
|
she looks forward to the future with characteristic optimism and |
|
|
will eventually begin tackling her next challenge: the state bar |
|
|
exam; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Allison Dickson serves as an inspiring role model |
|
|
for her family, friends, and fellow citizens, and her outstanding |
|
|
accomplishments are truly cause for celebration; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Allison Dickson on her graduation |
|
|
from Baylor Law School and extend to her sincere best wishes for all |
|
|
the good fortune she so richly deserves; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Dickson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
