R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A bronze marker in Corinth Cemetery in Cass County
  is being dedicated in May 2007 to honor a valorous Texan, U.S. Army
  Air Corps Second Lieutenant Ernest Paul Kirkland, who was killed
  while serving this nation during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, Born on March 9, 1925, Lieutenant Kirkland was the
  only child of Jay and Vida Kirkland; he answered his country's call
  to arms and served his fellow citizens with distinction as a pilot;
  and
         WHEREAS, His plane, a Bomber A20 Havoc, went down over the
  Southwest Pacific on March 9, 1945, his 20th birthday, and his
  tragic death left behind a loving family and numerous friends to
  cherish his memory; and
         WHEREAS, Lieutenant Kirkland possessed the courage and
  initiative that defined the finest members of his generation, and
  the Corinth Cemetery marker is a fitting tribute to this brave
  Texan's gift of his life for his country; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay posthumous tribute to U.S. Army Air Corps
  Second Lieutenant Ernest Paul Kirkland and honor his valiant
  military service during World War II; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army
  Air Corps Second Lieutenant Ernest Paul Kirkland.
