R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Plano West High School girls' soccer team won |
|
|
the 2007 UIL Class 5A Girls Soccer State Championship with a |
|
|
dominant victory over previously undefeated Deer Park High School |
|
|
at the Round Rock ISD Athletic Complex; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This state title is the team's fourth in the past |
|
|
eight years, and the victory capped a 17-game winning streak that |
|
|
included seven straight playoff wins; the Lady Wolves finished the |
|
|
season with an impressive record of 25 wins, two losses, and two |
|
|
ties; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Head coach Jennifer Grubb provided exceptional |
|
|
leadership and invaluable encouragement to her team throughout its |
|
|
run to the title, and with a host of talented young players like |
|
|
championship game most valuable player Lauren LaGro returning next |
|
|
year, the squad is well positioned to defend its state title; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the dream of every |
|
|
high school athlete, and the memory of this significant achievement |
|
|
will remain with these dedicated student-athletes for years to |
|
|
come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Jennifer Grubb and the Plano |
|
|
West High School girls' soccer team for winning the 2007 state |
|
|
championship and extend best wishes to the many individuals who |
|
|
contributed to the team's successful season; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
