R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Beverly Halperin has concluded her service to the
  Plano Chamber of Commerce, bringing to a close a distinguished
  tenure that extended for more than 14 years; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Halperin first joined the staff of the chamber
  of commerce in October 1992; in her initial assignment as
  membership director, she successfully supervised a number of
  efforts, including membership sales and retention, the Ambassador
  program, and two annual membership drives; and
         WHEREAS, Promoted to vice president in 1996, she took on the
  responsibility of organizing the annual golf tournament,
  luncheons, and other chamber programs and events, and she oversaw
  the work of the standing chamber committees; information resources
  were also ably handled by Ms. Halperin, who managed the
  organization's documents and publications and guided the
  transition of the newsletter from its original print format to a
  very popular electronic version in 2005; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her regular duties, Beverly Halperin
  frequently stepped in to help out on special projects or to fill
  specific needs; she took the helm as interim president for a
  six-month period in 2002 and kept the organization functioning
  smoothly until the next president was in place; she was also
  instrumental in the chamber's successful 60th anniversary
  celebration in August 2006; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, Ms. Halperin has been a part of some
  1,450 ribbon-cutting ceremonies, 70 luncheons, and 40 special
  gatherings, all of which were dependent on her leadership and
  organizational skills; as she reflects on her years of service,
  Beverly Halperin may take justifiable pride in her outstanding
  performance and in the knowledge that the Plano Chamber of Commerce
  is a better organization because of her efforts; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Beverly Halperin for her contributions to
  the Plano Chamber of Commerce and extend to her best wishes for
  success and happiness in her future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Halperin as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
