R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with many joyful times may |
|
comfort the family and friends of Texarkana resident Flora Eugenia |
|
Davis, who passed away on April 26, 2007, at the age of 101; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on December 23, 1905, Mrs. Davis was a resident |
|
of Bowie County for more than nine decades and the widow of Walter |
|
McDonald Davis; the pair were wed for 50 years until his passing in |
|
1975, and enjoyed a marriage that was blessed with a large and |
|
loving family; and |
|
WHEREAS, This cherished wife, mother, and grandmother was a |
|
woman of diverse interests and abilities; an outstanding |
|
seamstress, she was a skilled musician, having played piano and |
|
organ for the Harmony Grove and Pleasant Grove Christian Churches; |
|
in addition, she was a gifted storyteller, whose flair for the |
|
dramatic, natural narrative talent, and infectious sense of humor |
|
delighted countless individuals through the years; and |
|
WHEREAS, For more than a century, Flora Eugenia Davis |
|
brightened the lives of all who were privileged to know her; she |
|
will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of |
|
those whose lives she touched with her warmth and kindness; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Flora Eugenia Davis |
|
and extend sympathy to the members of her family: to her children, |
|
Jettye Eugenia Davis Skelton, Esta Ann Davis Smith, Donna Jane |
|
Davis Amaral, and Walter McDonald "Buster" Davis, Jr.; to her 10 |
|
grandchildren; to her many great-grandchildren and |
|
great-great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Flora |
|
Eugenia Davis. |
