R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Weslaco East High School girls' basketball team
  captured the 2007 District 32-4A championship, and several team
  members received postseason honors for their inspired play; and
         WHEREAS, Sara Ruiz, Jackie Valdez, and Bertha Renteria were
  named to the All-District First Team; Ms. Ruiz ranked sixth in
  scoring among players in the Rio Grande Valley and was named the
  district's Offensive Most Valuable Player; Ms. Valdez, who was a
  unanimous first-team selection, ranked 13th in assists, while Ms.
  Renteria ranked 23rd in rebounding; and
         WHEREAS, Team members chosen for the All-District Second Team
  include Naomi Castro and Annalisa Hernandez, and honorable mention
  was accorded to Emma Saenz; rounding out the 2007 Wildcats squad are
  Linda Ortiz, Teresa Ortiz, Jessica Bonilla, and Kristy Castillo;
  and
         WHEREAS, Coaches Chris Kromer and Dave Morales guided the
  Wildcats to an undefeated record in district play and provided
  support and encouragement for the team throughout the long and
  demanding season; and
         WHEREAS, These talented student-athletes have witnessed the
  importance of teamwork in the pursuit of a common goal, and the
  valuable lessons they have learned on the hardcourt will
  undoubtedly benefit them in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate coaches Chris Kromer and Dave
  Morales and the Weslaco East Wildcats on winning the 2007 District
  32-4A championship and extend best wishes to the many individuals
  who contributed to this significant achievement; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
