R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 50th birthday of an esteemed Texan is always |
|
cause for celebration, and on May 13, 2007, James H. Stokes, Jr., is |
|
marking this occurrence in his happy and accomplished life; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Houston in 1957, Mr. Stokes was a 1975 |
|
graduate of Westbury High School, where he was active in debate and |
|
tennis and received the prestigious Jones Scholarship; he also |
|
achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; he furthered his education at The |
|
University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas School of |
|
Law, earning his juris doctorate degree in 1982; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Stokes was elected Fort Bend County Republican |
|
Party Chair in 1988; this Baptist deacon is supported in all of his |
|
endeavors by his wife of eight years, Synthia, with whom he recently |
|
became a foster parent to Maddie and Michael; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Stokes has enjoyed considerable success and has |
|
been a blessing to his friends, family, and community, and the |
|
occasion of his birthday provides a fitting opportunity to |
|
recognize him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate James H. Stokes, Jr., on his 50th |
|
birthday and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Stokes as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
