R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Those Texans who give of themselves to make their
  community a better place are truly deserving of our admiration and
  gratitude, and Bruce Rigler of Plainview is one such individual;
  and
         WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of his beloved hometown, Mr.
  Rigler graduated from Plainview High School in 1943 and served his
  country in World War II; after returning to civilian life, he
  started a dairy operation with his brother, retiring in 1987 after
  40 years in the industry; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Rigler shared his time with a number of
  professional groups, serving on the board of the American Jersey
  Cattle Club and in various leadership positions with the Associated
  Milk Producers and the National, Texas, and Randall County Dairy
  Herd Improvement Associations; he has also been active with the
  Hale County Farm Bureau during the past four decades, holding the
  offices of president, vice president, and secretary-treasurer, to
  name but a few; and
         WHEREAS, His fellow residents have benefited from his nine
  years with the Plainview ISD School Board, which included a tenure
  as vice president, and his 37 years on the Region 17 Education
  Service Center board of directors; he spent nearly a decade as
  chairman of that body and holds the distinction of being its
  longest-serving member; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Rigler is a valued congregant of First
  Presbyterian Church in Plainview, where he has been an elder for
  several terms; and
         WHEREAS, In his free time, this beloved Texan enjoys spending
  time with his family, including his brother, children,
  grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and supporting his
  favorite sports teams, especially the Plainview Bulldogs and the
  Wayland Baptist Pioneers; and
         WHEREAS, While those who know him appreciate the time and
  energy Mr. Rigler has devoted to service; they are even more
  thankful for the delicious homemade peanut brittle he has so
  generously shared through the years; and
         WHEREAS, A man of impressive accomplishments and energy,
  Bruce Rigler has dedicated much of his life to promoting the
  well-being of Plainview's residents, and his labors have benefited
  countless individuals; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Bruce Rigler for his exceptional service
  to his community and extend to him sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Rigler as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
