R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is always
  cause for celebration, and on May 27, 2007, Gilberta Delphine
  Bradford Portley Neblett of Houston is marking this special
  milestone in her long and happy life; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Galveston in 1917 to Calvin Bradford and
  Lillie Green, Mrs. Neblett graduated from Phillis Wheatley High
  School and furthered her education at Wiley College; she married
  Robert E. Neblett, Sr., on September 2, 1942; the pair enjoyed
  nearly 60 years together and welcomed into their family three
  adoptive children, Robert, Lillie, and Paulette; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her duties as a wife and mother, Mrs.
  Neblett was employed for 30 years as an administrative assistant at
  Charles Atherton Elementary School in Houston; she also worked at
  Booker T. Washington High School, E. O. Smith Junior High School,
  and the Harris County Court Precinct 7, where she served for seven
  years; and
         WHEREAS, A valued congregant of Mount Vernon United Methodist
  Church, Mrs. Neblett has drawn great strength and sustenance from
  her faith throughout her life, and she has given back to her
  religious community as a teacher, Methodist youth leader, and
  secretary of the Northwest District of the United Methodist Women;
  and
         WHEREAS, Gilberta Neblett is a joy and inspiration to all who
  are privileged to know her, and it is a pleasure to join her
  friends, family, and admirers in recognizing her on nine decades of
  life well lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gilberta Delphine Bradford Portley
  Neblett on the joyous occasion of her 90th birthday and extend to
  her best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Neblett as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
