R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Family, friends, and neighbors are mourning the loss |
|
|
of Kenneth Brice Shackelford of Leakey, who died on April 16, 2007, |
|
|
at the age of 60; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born on April 29, 1946, in Uvalde to Jack Real |
|
|
Shackelford and Rocille Tampke Shackelford, Kenny Shackelford |
|
|
served his country during the Vietnam War; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A longtime businessman and rancher in Real County, |
|
|
Mr. Shackelford was active in public affairs, serving as a Real |
|
|
County commissioner from 1990 to 1998; he also served on the board |
|
|
of directors of the Nueces River Authority and as a trustee of the |
|
|
Leakey Independent School District; he was active as well in the 4-H |
|
|
and the FFA Junior Livestock Show; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Most recently Mr. Shackelford had continued his |
|
|
dedicated public service as a member of the board of trustees of |
|
|
Southwest Texas Junior College; first sworn in to fill a vacant seat |
|
|
in 2005, he was elected to the position the following year for a |
|
|
six-year term; he was also currently serving on the board of |
|
|
directors of the Hondo National Bank and its parent institution, |
|
|
Texas Heritage Bancshares; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Kenny Shackelford gave generously of his time and |
|
|
energy to his community, and he will long be remembered with |
|
|
admiration and affection by all who knew him; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Kenneth Brice |
|
|
Shackelford and extend sincere condolences to his family: to his |
|
|
wife of 37 years, Anita Lacey Shackelford; to his son, Bryan |
|
|
Shackelford and his wife, Lori; to his mother, Rocille Kramer; to |
|
|
his brothers, Stan Shackelford and his wife, Helen, and Jerry |
|
|
Shackelford and his wife, Sharon; to his sisters, Alice Jane |
|
|
Shackelford and Christine Wilmoth and her husband, John; to his |
|
|
grandchildren, Candice and Drew Shackelford; and to his other |
|
|
relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kenny |
|
|
Shackelford. |
