R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Davis Lunsford of Boy Scouts of America Troop No. 92 |
|
has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this accomplishment truly |
|
merits special recognition; and |
|
WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |
|
honor, bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|
scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|
criteria, Mr. Lunsford earned 38 merit badges, 17 more than the |
|
requisite number, and in so doing, he gained expertise in areas as |
|
varied as cinematography, rifle shooting, and Indian lore; and |
|
WHEREAS, For his Eagle Scout project, Mr. Lunsford |
|
transformed a concrete slab behind Graham Bible Church into a |
|
usable basketball court and recreation area; he raised $9,790 for |
|
the project and personally logged approximately 142 hours on the |
|
task, in addition to recruiting the help of more than 50 volunteers, |
|
who contributed a total of 522 hours; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Will and Kerri Lunsford of Graham, this |
|
fine young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |
|
throughout his scouting career, winning the respect and admiration |
|
of his fellow scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that |
|
scouting offers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Lunsford's dedication to excellence and |
|
his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy |
|
to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Davis Lunsford on achieving the |
|
rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him best wishes for continued |
|
success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Lunsford as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
