R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Hillary Babida of Harlandale High School has been |
|
|
selected as a 2006-2007 Harlandale Independent School District |
|
|
Gates Millennium Scholar; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, |
|
|
this program offers financial support to outstanding minority |
|
|
students so that they are able to attend college and become future |
|
|
leaders; established in 1999, the scholar awards focus on |
|
|
encouraging studies in the fields of education, engineering, |
|
|
library science, mathematics, public health, and the sciences at |
|
|
the undergraduate through doctoral levels; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of an elite group of students from across the |
|
|
country to be named a Gates Millennium Scholar, Hillary Babida |
|
|
earned this award on the basis of her academic excellence, and she |
|
|
may indeed look forward with anticipation to a future bright with |
|
|
promise; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Hillary Babida on her selection as |
|
|
a 2006-2007 Harlandale ISD Gates Millennium Scholar and extend to |
|
|
her best wishes for continued success in her college studies; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Babida as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
