R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Judge Arturo Salas has been a tremendous asset to |
|
the community of La Feria and he is indeed worthy of special |
|
recognition for his contributions; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born on October 8, 1935, Judge Salas graduated from |
|
Harlingen High School in 1956; the following year he joined the U.S. |
|
Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, |
|
North Carolina; after his honorable discharge he returned to Texas, |
|
and in 1960 he married Delia Rios; they lovingly raised five |
|
children, Arturo, Albert, Ariel, Adrianna, and Adrian, and spent 45 |
|
years together before Mrs. Salas passed away in 2005; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1992, Judge Salas was appointed Justice of the |
|
Peace for Precinct 7, filling an unexpired term, and he remained in |
|
this important position until his retirement in December 2004; |
|
besides his professional duties, he has also been active in local |
|
organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club, |
|
and American Legion Post 439; and |
|
WHEREAS, Judge Salas has a proven record of leadership, |
|
integrity, and good works, and his service in behalf of the |
|
residents of his community will not soon be forgotten; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Judge Arturo Salas for his contributions |
|
to La Feria and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Judge Salas as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
