H.R. No. 2048
 
 
 
R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Judge Arturo Salas has been a tremendous asset to
  the community of La Feria and he is indeed worthy of special
  recognition for his contributions; and
         WHEREAS, Born on October 8, 1935, Judge Salas graduated from
  Harlingen High School in 1956; the following year he joined the U.S.
  Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg,
  North Carolina; after his honorable discharge he returned to Texas,
  and in 1960 he married Delia Rios; they lovingly raised five
  children, Arturo, Albert, Ariel, Adrianna, and Adrian, and spent 45
  years together before Mrs. Salas passed away in 2005; and
         WHEREAS, In 1992, Judge Salas was appointed Justice of the
  Peace for Precinct 7, filling an unexpired term, and he remained in
  this important position until his retirement in December 2004;
  besides his professional duties, he has also been active in local
  organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club,
  and American Legion Post 439; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Salas has a proven record of leadership,
  integrity, and good works, and his service in behalf of the
  residents of his community will not soon be forgotten; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Judge Arturo Salas for his contributions
  to La Feria and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Judge Salas as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
