R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Pansy Baird retired as treasurer of Bowie County on |
|
December 31, 2006, drawing to a close an outstanding tenure of |
|
public service that spanned more than 25 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Texarkana, Mrs. Baird |
|
graduated in the top 15 percent of Texas High School in 1957 and |
|
went on to attend the Four States Business College and Texarkana |
|
Junior College; and |
|
WHEREAS, She worked as a legal secretary for 17 years before |
|
joining the staff of the Bowie County judge's office in 1978; she |
|
served there for more than a decade; appointed county treasurer in |
|
1989, Mrs. Baird was elected to the post the following year and was |
|
subsequently reelected three more times; during her distinguished |
|
tenure, she faithfully served county taxpayers with sound policies |
|
and fiscal responsibility, earning the respect of colleagues and |
|
citizens alike; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Mrs. Baird has enjoyed the |
|
love and support of her husband of 47 years, Jerrell Baird, and |
|
their children, Michael, Pam, and Doug, and she takes great |
|
pleasure in the company of her four grandchildren, Alicia, Justin, |
|
Luke, and Ali; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pansy Baird provided many years of valuable service |
|
to her fellow residents of Northeast Texas, and her contributions |
|
to efficient and effective government in Bowie County are truly |
|
deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Pansy Baird on her retirement as |
|
treasurer of Bowie County and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Baird as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
