R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Dorothy Harris of Waco has received a Communities In |
|
|
Schools (CIS) Best of Texas Award in the category of Parent of the |
|
|
Year; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Communities In Schools is an outstanding program |
|
|
dedicated to helping students stay in school and to providing them |
|
|
with the skills necessary to succeed in life; the organization's |
|
|
Best of Texas Awards honor exceptional individuals who have given |
|
|
generously of their talents to help fulfill these goals and to serve |
|
|
their community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Recognized as Parent of the Year, Ms. Harris is the |
|
|
grandmother of four students who have participated in CIS McLennan |
|
|
County Youth Collaboration; one of the program's most involved |
|
|
family members, she has been active as a volunteer with the PTA and |
|
|
Parents for Public Schools and was selected as one of only 30 |
|
|
parents or grandparents across her district to serve on the Parent |
|
|
Leadership Institute; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Harris has demonstrated a tremendous dedication |
|
|
to the welfare of her grandchildren, their classmates, and students |
|
|
throughout McLennan County, and her efforts are indeed deserving of |
|
|
our respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dorothy Harris on her receipt of |
|
|
the Communities In Schools Best of Texas Award for Parent of the |
|
|
Year and extend to her warm wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Harris as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
