R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jessica Hicks of Waco has received a Communities In
  Schools (CIS) Best of Texas Award in the category of Principal of
  the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Communities In Schools is an outstanding program
  dedicated to helping students stay in school and to providing them
  with the skills necessary to succeed in life; the organization's
  Best of Texas Awards honor exceptional individuals who have given
  generously of their talents to help fulfill these goals and to serve
  their community; and
         WHEREAS, The assistant principal of Brooks Avenue
  Elementary, Ms. Hicks has been associated with the CIS McLennan
  County Youth Collaboration for the past four years; known for her
  holistic approach to education, she was instrumental in securing a
  larger location for her area's CIS operation, and her efforts have
  helped the endeavor grow to include 130 students, 20 volunteers,
  four tutors, an intern, and a full-time case manager; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Hicks has demonstrated a tremendous dedication
  to the welfare of her students and all the youth of her community
  and she is indeed deserving of our respect and gratitude; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jessica Hicks on earning the
  Communities In Schools Best of Texas Award for Principal of the Year
  and extend to her warm wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Hicks as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
