R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The city of Zapata has been named "micro" City of the |
|
Future by fDi, a publication that specializes in globalization |
|
issues and foreign direct investment; and |
|
WHEREAS, Zapata, an unincorporated city located in Zapata |
|
County, was judged in the magazine's "micro" category and was |
|
recognized for several development projects that are currently |
|
under way, including major improvements to the highways and the |
|
addition of a new border crossing into neighboring Mexico; and |
|
WHEREAS, The publication's judges cited the city's clear |
|
development strategy, its dedication to attracting out-of-state |
|
investors, and the decision by city leaders to invest in logistics, |
|
air transport, alternative energy, ecotourism, and security; and |
|
WHEREAS, This significant recognition highlights the |
|
visionary leadership and commitment to smart growth that |
|
characterize the city of Zapata and Zapata County, and the citizens |
|
of Zapata merit special commendation for their innovative endeavors |
|
to enhance economic development; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the residents of Zapata and Zapata |
|
County on the city's selection as the fDi "micro" City of the Future |
|
and extend best wishes to the many individuals who contributed to |
|
this success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the city of Zapata as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
