R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Gloria Lynn Ray has deservedly been named Woman of |
|
the Year by St. Paul United Methodist Church in San Antonio; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dedicated church leader has lent her time and |
|
talents to serve the congregation in many capacities, including |
|
youth coordinator, executive administrator, facilitator of weekly |
|
Bible study classes, and chair of the Black Heritage Month Task |
|
Force; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Ray has also served the Alamo City as president |
|
of the San Antonio Fiesta Commission and as executive director of |
|
the St. Paul Area Development Corporation, an organization focused |
|
on improving the lives of inner-city residents; in 2005, her many |
|
contributions earned her induction into the San Antonio Women's |
|
Hall of Fame; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to owning and operating Flowers Aglo, |
|
Mrs. Ray held a distinguished tenure as director of budgeting |
|
management with the U.S. Air Force, and she has further served her |
|
community as a noted public speaker; and |
|
WHEREAS, Devoted to her family, church, and community, Gloria |
|
Ray is an inspiration to all who know her, and her generous work in |
|
behalf of her fellow citizens has indeed made her worthy of this |
|
special honor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Gloria Lynn Ray on being named |
|
Woman of the Year by St. Paul United Methodist Church and commend |
|
her for her outstanding service to her congregation and community; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Ray as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
