R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love
  and shared experiences, and Wayne and Ruby Schaper of Houston are
  celebrating this joyous milestone in their marriage on June 29,
  2007; and
         WHEREAS, Wayne F. Schaper and the former Ruby E. Melugin were
  joined in matrimony in 1957 at a ceremony held at First Methodist
  Church in Galveston; through the years, they have been blessed with
  a treasured family that includes four children and their spouses,
  Wayne Schaper, Jr., and his wife, Kristy, Darrel Schaper and his
  wife, Andrea, Callie Hoffman and her husband, Gary, and James
  Schaper and his wife, Julie; they have also had the joy of seeing
  their family extend to another generation with the arrival of their
  10 grandchildren, Hallie, Katherine, Kylie, Alexandria, Claire,
  Ryan, Alyssa, Kyle, Anna, and Luke; and
         WHEREAS, A respected educator who holds degrees from Texas
  A&M University and Sam Houston State University, Mr. Schaper
  retired from Spring Branch Independent School District after a
  41-year career as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal,
  and associate superintendent; moreover, he has been appointed by
  three governors to serve on the Accountability Cost Committee for
  Education for the Texas Legislature; today, he continues his
  important work as president of the Spring Branch ISD Board of
  Trustees and the Gulf Coast Area Association of School Boards; in
  addition to meeting his career and family responsibilities, he has
  been an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston
  for 46 years; and
         WHEREAS, A retired teacher, Ruby Schaper is a graduate of the
  University of Houston and taught at Wilchester Elementary and
  Rummel Creek Elementary for a total of 25 years; she is an active
  member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and the Holy
  Cross Lutheran Church, where she has served as chair of the annual
  garage sale, and she is president of the Pine Village Garden Club;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Schaper have enjoyed five decades of
  abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an
  exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
  commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Wayne and Ruby Schaper on their
  50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Schaper as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
