R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Southeast Texas residents are gathering on May 10,
  2007, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the founding of The Arts
  Alliance Center at Clear Lake; and
         WHEREAS, Established by civic leader and arts patron Kay
  Taylor Burnett, The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake opened its
  doors in June 1997, and during the past decade it has achieved the
  goal of becoming the heart of cultural development for communities
  between Houston and Galveston Island; and
         WHEREAS, The center offers many programs to promote and
  nurture the visual arts, including art education programs for
  children and adults, computer graphics courses, monthly gallery
  exhibits, and a summer arts camp; in addition, the Alliance keeps
  its membership of more than 50 arts organizations informed through
  a bimonthly magazine and regular newsletter; and
         WHEREAS, Since 2000, this important regional resource has
  operated out of a 7,000-square-foot facility donated by original
  president and CEO Kay Burnett and her husband, Warren Burnett; the
  organization, which continues to thrive under the able leadership
  of executive director Lisa Hamilton, uses the space for exhibition
  galleries, classrooms, conference rooms, an atrium, and a patio
  garden; and
         WHEREAS, By promoting an awareness of creative gifts and
  fostering an appreciation of the arts, The Arts Alliance Center at
  Clear Lake has enriched the life of the community even as it opens
  new vistas of possibility and opportunity for countless area
  citizens; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 10th anniversary of the founding
  of The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake and extend best wishes for
  continued success to all those associated with this noteworthy
  endeavor; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the center as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
