R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Former District Judge William S. Lott of Williamson |
|
County celebrated a significant event in his life with the |
|
commemoration of his 89th birthday in 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Clarendon, he learned the value of hard |
|
work on his father's ranch in his youth; after earning his law |
|
degree from The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Lott answered his |
|
nation's call to duty in World War II, working in military |
|
intelligence for the United States Army; and |
|
WHEREAS, He began his law practice in Georgetown and |
|
benefited from the mentorship of District Judge D. B. Wood; and |
|
WHEREAS, Elected a district judge himself in 1977, Judge Lott |
|
quickly earned a reputation as a tough, fair, and dedicated jurist; |
|
closely following the law, he never deviated from what he felt was |
|
right, in spite of occasional threats to his personal safety; and |
|
WHEREAS, For 52 years, Mr. Lott enjoyed the love and support |
|
of his devoted wife, the late Ella Gene Lott, and today he delights |
|
in the company of his children, Bill and Cathy, and his |
|
grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Still active in local affairs, Bill Lott is always a |
|
welcome presence at community events, and he remains one of the most |
|
respected figures in Williamson County; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable William S. Lott on |
|
his 89th birthday and extend to him best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Lott as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
