R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Former District Judge William S. Lott of Williamson
  County celebrated a significant event in his life with the
  commemoration of his 89th birthday in 2007; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Clarendon, he learned the value of hard
  work on his father's ranch in his youth; after earning his law
  degree from The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Lott answered his
  nation's call to duty in World War II, working in military
  intelligence for the United States Army; and
         WHEREAS, He began his law practice in Georgetown and
  benefited from the mentorship of District Judge D. B. Wood; and
         WHEREAS, Elected a district judge himself in 1977, Judge Lott
  quickly earned a reputation as a tough, fair, and dedicated jurist;
  closely following the law, he never deviated from what he felt was
  right, in spite of occasional threats to his personal safety; and
         WHEREAS, For 52 years, Mr. Lott enjoyed the love and support
  of his devoted wife, the late Ella Gene Lott, and today he delights
  in the company of his children, Bill and Cathy, and his
  grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Still active in local affairs, Bill Lott is always a
  welcome presence at community events, and he remains one of the most
  respected figures in Williamson County; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable William S. Lott on
  his 89th birthday and extend to him best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Lott as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
